After a successful Kenya - Ghana Business Forum graced by H.E Kenya President and Ghana President, the PS visited African Consumer Product Limited, a 35 M $ Kenya - Ghana Joint Venture Investment in the Soap and Detergents Industry.
Joint Venture investment is between Kapa Oil Kenyan Company and Wilmar Ghana Company.
The potential for Edible Oil and Rice Plantations Investments in Kenya was discussed and how it can be explored and exploited.

National Investment Council ( NIC) Private Sector Members and the Business Reform Action Plan Development Committee Workshop

After Care Program is a post-investment facilitation mechanism to retain and expand existing private investments. The PS Abubakar Hassan officiated a validation workshop between National Investment Council (NIC) Private Sector Members and the Business Reform Action Plan Development Committee whose members are CEOs of private sector associations


It was resolved that all private sector issues will be channeled through the Development Committee for screening and then forwarded to NIC for review and adoption before being presented to the Presidential Roundtable for consideration

BETA Implementation

In line with MITI's commitment to implement BETA through the Special Economic Zone program, I commend the significant progress made by the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA).

Their efforts have resulted in the creation of about 4,700 jobs and the attraction of over USD 227 million in investments. This notable achievement can be attributed to the establishment of seven new zones in 2023, bringing the total number to 36 zones and licensing 53 enterprises within them.

BPI France visit

Arnaud Floris, Africa Coordinator, BPI France together with other Senior Officials from the same institution paid a courtesy call to the PS office. Together with officials from the State Department of Investment Promotion and KDC, they discussed areas of collaboration including debt & equity financing, co-financing, and BPI France’s support to trade, investments and industry in Kenya.

LAUNCH OF KEBS KENYA 5 YEARS BLUEPRINT

CS, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Rebecca Miano, EGH joined the KEBS Kenya fraternity for the launch of their 5 years blueprint. The CS was delighted to note that the KEBS Strategic Plan 2023-2027 that was launched, strategically aligns itself with areas of the BETA focus. She was confident that this will streamline certification processes and enhanced efficiency in expediting timely issuance of quality certification for Kenyan products destined for international markets.

SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE IN MIRITINI

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sherif Nassir Said that the County Government of Mombasa is at an advanced stage of operationalizing its Special Economic Zone in Miritini. This flagship project is expected to create 10,000 direct jobs and 50, 000 indirect jobs for the people of Mombasa. The Governor received the Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan Abubabar from the State Department of Industrialization when he paid him a working visit. They agreed to work together to speed up my administration’s efforts to put the people in meaningful employment.

Ecstatic to have participated in the just concluded 2nd Homabay International Investment Conference. The state department's technical team interacted with different stakeholders to understand investor perceptions on the current business and investment climate of Kenya & to promote the county and Kenya as ready for business. This will enhance the ongoing initiatives of formulating evidence-based business reforms and Investment policies.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said that County Governments continues to play a vital role in contributing to the national government's development goals and bolstering the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth. With the leadership of Lamu County, he inspected the ongoing construction of the taxi way and apron at Manda Airport and the Kenya Ports Authority stand waiting area at Mokowe Jetty. These projects mark significant milestones that will transform the fortunes and livelihoods of the people of Lamu County, opening up opportunities for investment and business growth.
