CS Transport and Roads Launches First E-Mobility Class in Partnership with KCB Foundation and UNITAR
In a significant development for sustainable transportation, the PS, Hon. Abubakar Hassan witnessed the presence of CS Transport and Roads, Hon. Kipmurkomen, as he presided over the commissioning of the first E-mobility class. This groundbreaking initiative was made possible through a partnership between KCB Foundation and UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research).
The highlight of the event was the distribution of electric bodabodas to 60 boda-boda riders from various parts of Nairobi. These riders, after receiving comprehensive training, became the first recipients of the electric bodabodas. This endeavor marks the beginning of a pilot phase within a larger 6-year electric mobility project.
An integral aspect of this initiative is the collaboration with KCB Bank, which offers 100% financing to prospective buyers of electric bodabodas. This financing opportunity aims to facilitate the transition towards sustainable transportation while also contributing to the development of local assembly capacity. The ambitious target of producing over 100,000 electric bodabodas will not only boost the green economy but also create new job opportunities in the transport sector.
The launch of the E-mobility class and the subsequent distribution of electric bodabodas represent a significant stride towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly modes of transport. The efforts of CS Transport and Roads, in collaboration with KCB Foundation and UNITAR, underscore the commitment to sustainable development and the creation of a greener future in the transportation sector.
